Instructions for your Pretty Smart Lamp
TURNING YOUR LAMP ON AND OFF:
When turning your lamp on and off for the first time, you will need to press the small button located on the back of your lamp. After turning it on for the first time, you have several options for turning your lamp on or off. You can either continue to use the button on the back, single tap the lamp, or use your app.
CHANGING THE COLOR SEQUENCE:
Double tap on your lamp. There are 6 sequences rotating as you double tap.
FINDING YOUR PHONE:
Triple tap your lamp in a rapid sequence (in less than 1.5 seconds). The selection in your app for "FindMe" has to be on.
DOWNLOADING THE APP:
A beta version of the Android app is available for download. Android users can download the app directly by using the link below. Please note that you must wait an hour after applying to be a tester for the app to actually appear to you in the play store.
Exchanging your design is easy. We recommend holding the base with one hand and using your other hand to hold the design on both sides, carefully wiggling it out. Due to the nature of casted acrylic some designs will be easier than others to place and remove. We have designed the tops and base in a way that allows for different thicknesses. If you'd like to purchase more designs, you can do so by clicking here.
CLEANING YOUR DESIGNS:
It's important to properly care for your designs in order to prevent scratching. We recommend storing your designs in the cloth bags they originally came in. To remove fingerprints and dust, use a glass cleaner and soft cloth.
Turns the lamp on and off
Changes the color sequence. Wait a couple seconds between double taps so that your lamp recognizes that it is indeed a double tap, if you are going through the light sequences
Enables the find your phone feature. On Androids we were able to use both sound and light to find your phone. We are having difficulties working with Apple to add the flashing light option with the find your phone feature for iPhones. We are testing workarounds.
Tap your loved ones feature. Your lamp will pulse in pink and red and will activate the same feature on your designated loved ones lamp. This feature is still a work in progress.
COLOR CATEGORIES FOR NOTIFICATIONS:
As per apple ANCS notification standards this is the categories of the notifications. We are following the same convention for Android.
CATEGORY_ID_VOICE_MAIL: Dim Yellow
CATEGORY_ID_HEALTH_AND_FITNESS: Dim Red
CATEGORY_ID_BUSINESS_AND_FINANCE: Dim Green
CATEGORY_ID_LOCATION: Dim White
CATEGORY_ID_ENTERTAINMENT: Dim Blue
PAIRING YOUR LAMP WITH YOUR PHONE
It’s important that your bluetooth be on before you open the app to try and pair with your lamp. You'll need to completely close the app and turn Bluetooth on if you had opened the app before turning Bluetooth on. There is no need to press any physical button to pair with your lamp. Click "Select My Lamp" at the top of the app. Once your phone detects a lamp it will appear on a list of Pretty Smart Lamps close to you. Select the one you wish to connect to.
If you have multiple lamps, they should appear in order from the lamp closest to you, to the furthest away. In the future, you will be able to rename your lamps to easily identify which lamp is which.
USING THE APP
ON AND OFF
The top right sliding button on your lamp is your on and off. Slide it to the right to turn it on, and left to turn it off.
CHANGING COLOR AND BRIGHTNESS
The sliding bar above the color wheel controls the brightness, going from least bright on the left, and brightest on the right. Below it is a color wheel to select the light color. Move the little circle anywhere on the wheel to change the color of your lamp. Notice that the app background color changes to the color that is selected on the color wheel.
Just below the color wheel is where you make your light sequin selection. It should read RGB.
Beat mode is a fun option we added after the campaign. Beat mode allows you to tap to the beat and have your lamp respond accordingly. We have not yet had a chance to try it on a bass heavy speaker, but we assume it may be able to respond to the bass.
If you test out this feature, send us a video! We'd love to see how you utilize beat mode.
The accelerometer on the lamp is programmed to detect a tap on the surface that the lamp is placed on. This allows you to simply tap on a table, for example, to use the tap features.
We know that not everyone will want the features that are available, that is why we have included the option to turn off certain features on the app.
This scroll button enables or disables the find my phone option
Turns off all tap commands except for on and off
This completely turns off the tap sensitivity of the lamp. We had a backer state that their cat was turning the lamp on and off. This would be a great way to prevent that from happening.
This makes it to where the movement of the surface that the lamp is on will not affect the tap feature of the lamp. So, for example, if you tap on your table your lamp will not react.
